Document Deliverability Expectations (Updated Q1 2022)

Due to the global COVID pandemic, USPS mail delivery times have increased substantially. As a result, typical delivery time for mail through the USPS is anywhere from 3 to 7 business days for first-class mail, and 3 to 15 business days for certified mail. These delivery windows directly impact the timeframes under which we have customarily generated credit profile improvements for our clients. Due to these ongoing marketplace conditions which are outside of our company’s control, the timely processing of our clients’ files may still be delayed, thereby extending the timeframe required to achieve our historic credit profile improvements.

Secondarily, two of the three main credit bureaus have paused acceptance of customary inbound electronic documents via facsimile, and bureau processing times are delayed as the bureaus have been granted an extra 15 days to process and respond to letters, allowing them 45 days to act instead of 30.  https://files.consumerfinance.gov/f/documents/cfpb_credit-reporting-policy-statement_cares-act_2020-04.pdf

Lastly, due to staffing shortages and other marketplace disruptions, credit bureaus may not be able to respond within the timeframes we have been able to rely upon historically. As of November 2020, hear the end of the first year of COVID pandemic disruptions, the NCLC submitted a complaint to the CFPB indicating that 13,000 complaints had been filed against the bureaus for lack of action over the previous 6 months. These challenges are ongoing, and have an impact on delivery of documents to the bureaus that Proven Credit generates for active clients. https://www.nclc.org/images/pdf/credit_reports/Letter-to-CFPB-urging-revocation-of-extra-time-for-disputes.pdf
